Is It Safe To Take Primolut-N While On Warfarin, And What Precautions Should I Follow?
Hi, I am 27 and i had Heart Surgery last year and i am in Warfrain 2mg daily. I had heavy periods and consulted Gynacologist. She suggested me to take Diane first and from next month till 3 months, i was suggested to take Primoult N (twice a day)from Day 10 to Day 25 after my periods. Is it safe to take Primoult N as i am on Warfrain aswell. If so what are the precautions that needs to be taken to avoid any difficulties.
Indeed, the use of Primolut N is associated with the risk of having blood clot. In your case, I'd advise to discuss this with your gynecologist and reconsider therapy. To me, the very first thing is to understand why you are bleeding. And the answer is: Warfarin. Taking blood thinner is associated with certain side effects like gastrointestinal hemorrhage or even heavy periods (metrorrhagia).
You cannot stop using warfarin as long as your body needs it after heart surgery. However, you can switch to other blood thinners. Indeed, there is a need to get your case revised by both gynecologist and heart surgeon in order to decide for the best treatment strategy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
