Hi & Welcome.
Albuterol is a selective beta 2-adrenergic drug used effectively in the treatment of
bronchial asthma.
In general Albuterol given through inhalation route (inhaler or nebulizer) is less likely to cause systemic effects like increased heart beats, palpitation, tremors, hypokalemia (decreased potassium levels), etc.
However, if taken in the form of tablets the same medication can cause those side effects mentioned above.
In presence of kidney disease, these effects may be increased because of slow clearance of the medicine from the body.
It is an effective alternative for the treatment of
hyperkalemia in kidney disease.
In presence of
hyperthyroidism, it can have a stimulatory effect on the heart and blood pressure. This may result in a fast heart rate (tachycardia),
high blood pressure (
hypertension), and an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
So, if taken through inhaler these side effects are less likely to occur hence can be taken safely.
Hope these answer your queries/.
