hi doctor,i am 17 week pregnant and for the last one week i had felt server itching in my whole body and it starts from my belly(and some more pimples at the part of stretch mark ).And my consultung doctor advise me to take Avil tablet twice daily.Is it safe to take the tablet at this time??Is it...

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Itching over abdomen in pregnancy can be seen usually due to stretching of collagen fibers.
This leads to decreased moisture.

Adding the moisture by means of creams containing Aloe Vera and vitamin E can relieve the symptoms.
You may take one or two tablets of avil as advised by your doctor.
But do not prolong the medication.
Instead of that use creams as mentioned above.
If the itching still persists, once check for liver function tests with your doctor's advice.
Take care.
