Is It Safe To Take Cefuroxime Zinnat During Pregnancy?

hi! i am 8 months pregnant and i have uti. I would like to ask if it safe to take cefuroxime zinnat 500 mg? But during my 2nd trimester i also have uti and take cefalexin 2x a day for 7 days but i took it only for 3 days. Then as i have a monthly check up i went to my ob and have some urine lab and my ob told me that my uti is gone. But months later my ob advice me to have anothr uti lab and found out again that i have a uti so my ob recommend to take cefuroxime zinnat.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
* Many drug can cause harm to baby ( in form of malformations) when taken in early months of pregnancy.You are in 8th month of pregnancy,baby is already developed so there is less possibility of such side effects.
*You have UTI second time in pregnancy,so if your doctor thinks the drug to be needful for you & has recommended it, you should take it without any doubt. Because the complications due to repeated UTI must be taken care of.
* addition of folic acid & vitamin E would help.
