Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Yes. You should take these 75 gram of glucose.
Your doctor recommended a
blood test called Oral
Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT).
This is to rule out diabetes in
pregnancy called
Gestational diabetes.
As you baby in uterus weighs 3.75 kg, your doctor may suspected Gestational diabetes.
It is a usual test for those who have a large baby.
Do not eat, drink or exercise strenuously for at least 8 hours before your first blood sample is taken.
Then you will be asked to take that 75 mg of glucose.
Do not eat during the test. You may drink only water during this time.
After 2 hours they will take your blood to check the glucose level.
This is a routine screening test test to rule out any Gestational diabetes.
If your blood sugar is high, then they will advise a diet change and exercise.
Still your blood sugar is not in control, they may advice
insulin or Oral hypoglycemic tablets to control blood sugar.
Thus nothing to be concerned, this is just a screening test.
Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
