hi im on meropenem 1g and 37weeks pregnant ive been told there is no harm or side affects to me or baby , they told me i have a urine infection ? , is there side affects , is it safe , ive been told its very strong antibiotic how would the infection have got so bad without the dr realise

Meropenem belongs to FDA pregnancy category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. It is given in patients during severe infections.. Do u have burning micturition. Was a culture done to see for sensitivity.? What was the organism grown? UTI is common in pregnancy due to the immunocompromised state and change in the flora. Frequent emptying of the bladder, proper hygiene and drink a lot of water.
