Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
The TT injection (
tetanus toxoid) is not a live
vaccine, so you cannot "catch" Tetanus from the vaccine nor does it cause any risk or problem for the
pregnancy. There is a live, nasal vaccine for Tetanus as well, that one is not recommended while pregnant, but if you had a shot, there is not a risk to you or the baby.
However, most routine cuts do not really put you at risk for Tetanus. If you were cut by something metal, especially if it was dirty, or had a deep puncture wound, it is unlikely to put you at risk. So depending on your situation, you may not really need to do all three shots, which are the standard series for
immunization. They can also check a
blood test to see if you are already immune to Tetanus from the first shot, if the blood test for that is available in India.
So in summary, the vaccine is not harmful during pregnancy, but depending on your situation, you may not really be at risk for Tetanus.
I hope I adequately answered your question and that my advice was helpful. Best wishes and good luck with you pregnancy.
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
