Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi thank you for helping me with my question.I sure I already no the answer ,but thought I would ask anyway.I am taking warfarin sence the end of July and is it safe for me to have my belly button pirced? Thank You
Warfarin as you might know is a drug which interferes with the clotting mechanism and hence will lead to more bleeding. So there will be more bleeding and if it is a deep piercing, it will produce a hematoma and complications related to the same. If you are very keen to have the piercing, let me know the indication for which you were started on Warfarin and what your present Prothrombin time and INR are, then I would be able to give my opinion as to whether it is safe to stop the drug for a couple of days for the procedure.
