hi, thanks for using HCM.

To assess whether or not your father need to continue hydrocortisone treatment long-term, you will have a Short Synacthen Test. This test will be arranged about 6 weeks after your operation. You will be advised NOT to take your morning dose of hydrocortisone on the day of the test. After the test, you should CONTINUE to take yourhydrocortisone as usual until the results are available.

ACTH is a hormone secreted from pitutary which is necessary for functioning of adrenal gland. Steroid hormone is essential for life. so need to supply this hormone after surgery.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
