Is It Safe To Travel With PMR?

jUST BEEN GIVEN DIAGNOSIS OF PMR (am on prednisone) eyes have been checked to see that there been no deterioration. Need to make a trip from NC to GA that will take about 9-10 hours. Someone told me that I should not be traveling with my current diagnosis until things are under control. (It is the holiday-hard to reach my doctor) Is the no long travel true.

Thanks for asking to healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
Brief answer : Not advisable..
Detailed answer:
In my opinion,it would be better to avoid long trips as the diagnosis has been recently made and also as if the diagnosis of giant cell arteritis is not excluded yet which can be associated with PMR in approximately half the cases.I would advise you to be in regular follow up's with the treating physician until your symptoms are controlled.Seek immediate medical attention if you get severe headache, pain in the jaw, vision disturbances etc.Hope i have answered your query .Wish you good health.Take care.
