Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Use Celebrex Every 3-4 Days And Tylenol Arthritis In Between While On Xarelto For Arthritis Pain?
I have severe pain from arthritis especially in my thighs....I am on blood thinner(xarelto)......Tylenol does very little for pain.....I tried celebrex and it works much better and lasts loner.......I want to try celebrex every 3 to 4 days and use tylenol arthritis in between....Is this OK.
As you mentioned, the Celebrex would work better for the pain especially since it is anti inflammatory but there is the risk of bleeding. The risk is less with Celebrex as compared to some of the more typically used NSAIDs, this has been assessed in medical studies, but it is still there.
It would be best to speak to your doctor to confirm that you can use the Celebrex intermittently to help with pain relief which I know can be tremendous with arthritis. Intermittent use may be allowed but this should be discussed with your physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson, General & Family Physician
