Is It Safe To Use Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol For Ears?

Hi, could I use Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol for my ears? I know I have some water embedded in my ears. But the label reads only to be use for burns and cuts. Is it true ? Do I need Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol instead ? or does Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol works as well ? Thank you for your time.

Hi,

You can use any skin antiseptic liquids for cleansing the pinna. However, please do not put these into the ear. Your ear drums may get damaged. Always you need to be careful while using the antiseptic liquids in the pinna, because the skin is very sensitive.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vijaykumar, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
