Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
The cream that you develop irritation contains hydroquinone.
It is mainly for acne spots/pigmentation and not for active acne. Hydroquinone is an irritant, no doubt.
The cream that has been suggested by your friend is absolutely contraindicated for use on face for acne. It is a prescription product.
It contains a potent
topical steroid,
clobetasol propionate which if used regularly may rather cause more acne apart from causing other side effects like hirsutism and sun sensitivity etc.
I will suggest that you visit your
dermatologist again for a specific prescription of antiacne medications.
Your dermatologist will be able to assess the severity of your acne and advice accordingly.
Topical antiacne medications include clindamycin,
benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids.
Oral antiacne medications include
Oral antibiotics and Oral retinoids. These may be required in those who have moderately severe to sever grade of inflammatory acne.
