Is It To Be Concerned About Having Rigors Frequently?

GRANDSON ,AGE 17, HAS HAD RIGORS TWICE IN TWO DAYS.HAS SEEN A DR. IN THE PAST AND WAS TOLD HE MAY HAVE ULCER. HE HAS PREVICID, BUT AS ANY TEEN DOES NOT TAKE IT. I HAVE GIVEN HIM THAT MED FOR TWO DAYS, BUT FOOD WILL ONLY GO DOWN SO FAR AND HE VOMITS IT BACK UP A FEW MINUTES LATER. THIS CHILD SAYS IT MAKES HIS HEART HURT WHEN HE VOMITS. I AM TAKING HIM BACK TO FLORIDA TODAY SO HE CAN BE SEEN. I THINK HIS LINING MAY BE INFLAMED AND COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS.WHEN HE HAS RIGORS HE SWEATS AND CAN NOT GET HIS BREATH. HELP W/IDEAS PLEASE.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Rigors is indicative of an infection and if he is having vomiting too then the most probable cause is gastroenteritis.
I would advise your grandson the following.
Get the stool and blood tested.
Consult a Doctor for a prescription based antibiotic, PPI like Pantoprazole, probiotics and domperidone for 5 days.
Use only boiled and cooled water.
Take only homemade foods and beverages.
This will help him to recover well and your insistence can help him to take medications otherwise tell him that injectable ma be needed.
I find this answer helpful
