Is It To Be Concerned About The Spot Due To A Dog Bite?
yesterday in the afternoon when I was loitering, I fail upon a street dog. Due to that I had a mild contract with the mouth of the dog. As I was wearing jean I did not feel injuries, I saw some watery compound on my trouser. But on return to home after 2 hours I found a small red spot on my right leg, then and there i washed the area with soap and applied dettol (antiseptic lotion). Now in the morning I see the spot is still there but no irritation is felt. Now my question is 'should I go for anti rabies vaccine' ? Bikash Banerjee < YYYY@YYYY >

Because you weared jeans you are protected much from dog bite. Good thing is that you have taken the primary precautions by washing the area. but as you have small dot in you leg, probably you have inoculated with rabies virus. best thing is you have to go for rabies vaccination. Alternatively you can observe the dog for few days, if dog remains in the same area for about 10 days than there is no possibilty that dog contains the virus. but if dog disappears from that area than chances of rabies virus in the dog are there. you should than go for vaccination.
