Is It Unusual For Gallstone Removal Surgery To Affect The Potassium Levels?

My wife has just had gall stones removed.She was due home today but has been kept in because the doctor is not happy with her potassium level. Is this unusual and normally associated with gallstones.She is due to have the gallbladder removed in six weeks timer

Hi,

Gallstone does not cause low potassium level. It may be due to inadequate food intake.

As of now, she can take potassium supplements and if low potassium status persists, you can consult a physician and get evaluated.
