Is Itching Around A Nexplanon Implant A Symptom Of The Body Rejecting It?

I just recently had the nexplanon implant about a month ago. It healed up weeks ago but now the place where its located is itching and it looks like a slight rash is starting to develop underneath it. I can still feel the rod, its still in place but I worry the itching may be my body rejecting the object.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but an allergic reaction and inflammation. You can apply low potency steroid teams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If there are any signs of infection present, it is better to remove and reinsert.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
