I m kind of worried about my ear wax. It does not dry up and fall out as what I ve read about ear wax - it s like a sticky paste. Recently, I ve realised that my ear wax gives off a sickly sweet smell and the build up occurs faster than usual (I usually have to clean my ears once or twice a week. Now, I have clean them once every one or two days or they will itch). Is this normal?
To know the basic of wax: * Wax is necessarily the combination of dead skin of ear and the sweat * In some people this dries up and expelled * In others, it can accumulate and form a ball which needs to be removed some or the other way * Those who start cleaning as a habit will find it present as wax formation is a continuous process.
I would advise you to consult an ENT surgeon to evaluate you completely, to see for any primary cause like Eustachian tube dysfunction or local cause for your problems. The remaining wax will also be cleaned well and you will be instructed for further course of action.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
