Is Journey Advisable With Low Lying Placenta In Pregnant Woman?

Hi Doctor,
I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. In my last scan (14 weeks), it was found that I have low lying placenta, grade 0 maturity. I am planning to go to travel by train next month (during 19th week). This is overnight jouney , about 17 hours. PLease let us know whether this is advisable.
Thanks & Regards,
Manju

Hi Manju.
This is Dr. Sridhar and I shall be answering your question.

You need to have complete rest as you have a low lying placenta. If this low lying placenta worsens, it leads to a condition called Placenta praevia.

From then on, there are high chances of complications in pregnancy and delivery.

However, since you are travelling by train, it won't matter much and I'd strongly advise you to take rest during journey and be in a lying posture.

Hope this information helps. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

With regards,
Dr. Sridhar
