Is Laser Surgery Effective In Treating Increasing Short Sightedness?

Hi, my name is Imran, from Pakistan. I am a student of class 11. I was in class 7 when I had fallen in short sightedness. The doctor recommended glasses of -1.50 D, but now my eyesight is being weak day by day, and now my glasses are of -4.25 D. Can laser surgery be fruitful for me?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello Imran,

Laser surgery for short sightedness is called LASIK. It can done if the individual is above 18 years of age, the spectacle correction has not changed in the last 2 years ( should be stable), the thickness of cornea should be good, the retina should otherwise be healthy with no peripheral holes or breaks and no amblyopia. You can discuss these issues with your ophthalmologist to know if lasik would benefit you.
