Is Light Brown Discharge At 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy Normal?
Hi, I just found out I am about 5 weeks and some days pregnant. Starting last Saturday I have been having light brown discharge. Is that normal? I am getting anxious about it. I don’t know if I should be concerned? I don’t have a ONGYN appointment till the end of this month.
It may be indicative that your vaginal discharge contains a small amount of old blood that is coming out of the vagina. It can also be implantation bleeding and most women go on to have a healthy pregnancy. To be on the safer side avoid over-wash the genital area. When pregnant do not perform vaginal douching and avoid sexual intercourse.
Sign of a miscarriage or threatened miscarriage is indicated by dark brown coffee grounds or bleeding at 5 weeks of pregnancy. You are advised to stay at rest and avoid doing any heavy work. It should stop after a day or two if not you should get clinically examined by a gynecologist / obstetrician to confirm that you are not having symptoms of early miscarriage. Take food in time, do not skip meals.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
