Is Long Term Use Of Deriphylline Safe For Children?
My son is 6yrs old.he had cold and cough.after a weeks medicines was better.but developed cold again and cough with slight rhonchi.dince cough for nearly 4 weeks a doctor prescribed syp deriphylline 5ml 3 times a day for 1 week and then continue it for another 10 days.is it ok to give the syrup gor so long

Your son might have bronchoconstriction due to allergy ( mite, dust , pollen, hay , fodder , pests, sudden fall & rise of temperature are certain predisposing factors for allergy).
Deriphyllin is most safe and effective drug for the management of cough ans cold in children .
You can use this drug even for months without any notable side effects .
When such patient visit I advise my patient to take deriphyllin twice in day ( sufficient ) .
So your son can twice in day and stop when no cough & cold . If recurs , use deriphyllin , so whenever require , use it .
