Is Low Blood Pressure After Treatment For Compartment Syndrome A Cause For Worry?
My husband had an aorta aneurysm repair on April 1, 2014. The doctor also had to clean out plaque in his left leg, one day later he suffered compartment syndrome & they had to cut his calf to relieve he pressure....the wound is coming along but for the last week he has had low blood pressure of 94/54 with slight dizziness...we are concerned about this...he has always had high blood pressure & is on medication...is there any need for concern?

HI as such the patient has undergone major surgeries for major problems. compartment syndrome does not cause direct hypo-tension, in this case it can be more so because of the gradual wound infection, of the calf muscle. this infection progressing into signs of sepsis. please check out with the treating doctor, and go for some blood tests complete haemogram with leucocytic count, renal function tests, blood or wound culture. please start him on appropriate sensitive antibiotics, to control the infection please with hold his blood pressure medications until then. all the best take care
