Is Low Lying Placenta Due To Smoking During Pregnancy?
my name in naila and i am 22 weeks pregnat. and yesterday my doc told me tht i am having a low lying placenta but my baby is ok till now. the truth is tht i kept on smoking during all this time in my pregnancy. can quitting smoking rite now will help my placenta move upwards? or is there any risk of harm to my baby?
thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com....
see first of all, your condition is called as placenta previa....it has got some degrees of severity...for type 1 and type 2 anterior, the risks are lower than the rest of the types...risks are mostly bleeding and pre-term labour...
the risk factors are many....like previous uterine fibroid, or operations in uterus, older age of pregnancy, smoking etc....quitting smoking might not help placenta get back to normal position, but it may stop many other complications....so please stop smoking....
hope this was helpful... regards
