Is Medication Helpful In Treating Poor Heart Function?

My DAD IS IN THE HOSPITAL AND THE DOCTOR SAID HE HAD ONLY 10% OF HEART WORKING. HE ALSO HAS A BLOOD CLOT IN LOWER LEFT QUAD OF HEART....I MISSED HEARING WHAT THE HEART FAILURE SPECIALIST HAD TO SAY TODAY, SO CAN HE GET BETTER IF HE STAYS ON HIS MEDS OR IS THIS JUST GOING TO GO DOWN HILL?

well frankly speaking patient with LVEF 10% has really very weak heart,but many patients get stabilised with medication.initially few days in ICU and subsequently after recovery ,patients do well for few months.presence of clot adds risk of embolism and stroke.we also need to know what is underlying cause of heart failure.we may nedd to treat that condition as well.As on today long term prognosis is not good.only hope in such case may be heart transplantation if feasible.
