hi please can you help me i am 28 years old i had unprotected sex 4 days before my period was due. It is now 4 days late, i am experiencing a lot of sometimes bad cramping for around a week now but no bleeding at all. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests both came back negative. My question is could i have got pregnant right before my period and it is too early to test. I usually have a 28 day cycle whivh is never late. Please help very confused.
It seems you are quite tense due to the worry of getting pregnant; and that could be the reason of your delayed menses.
Just 4 days prior to the menses, there is no egg present to get fertilized; hence the intercourse on that day is most unlikely to cause pregnancy.
You have performed pregnancy tests too early. These tests are more reliable about a week after missed period; earlier they may report false negative.
So, you have now following options:
1. Wait for 4 days more and then repeat pregnancy test on the overnight first morning urine sample.
2. Get Beta hCG test done on the blood 10 days after the last unprotected intercourse. Values less than 5 mIU/ml denote 'no pregnancy' while values more that 25 mIU/ml are diagnostic of pregnancy.
I hope this helps you.
