Is Missing 3 Doses Of Seizure Medication A Cause For Concern?

My 11yr old son takes oxcarbazepine 300mg twice a day for seizures ( he has only had one seizure almost a yr ago). I dropped off his prescription today but did not get back before they closed to pick it up and now he will miss 3 doses since they won t reopen till Monday. I was wondering if I should be worried? If there is anything I should do?

Welcome to HCM

Yes.ofcourse it is of serious concern.

Missing antiepileptic medication in a child with seizure disorder is of great concern.

Even though he is seizure free for more than a year he still have a chance of getting an epileptic attack. It is not good for the child to have a fit just because of missing his drugs.

Even while stopping the medications for seizures we docs slowly taper the dosage of the drugs and then stop.

Bettet to be cautious in not missing his doses.
