Hello,

Nowadays many drugs are available for treating the enteric fever but still, the gold therapy would be Chloramphenicol. If the organism is not resistant, however, newer molecules may also show the resistance hence two molecules be given to cure the disease. Sometimes Chloramphenicol can be added over and it is the physician who takes the right decision.

As long as the line of treatment is concerned, clinical condition helps in deciding it and if no resistance is there then every molecule which is given for enteric fever will work well, but still standard and gold therapy given the top priority.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
