Hello,
You are having mucus discharge after bowel movement. You have not mentioned what medicine you had been taking. Large amounts of mucus in stool associated with
diarrhea may be indicative of intestinal infections.
Bloody mucus in stool, or mucus accompanied with
abdominal pain, can be indicative of Crohn's disease,
ulcerative colitis, cancer, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get required blood tests, stool cultures, imaging tests like CT scans, MRIs, or X-rays done. Your treating doctor can ask you to get
endoscopy done if required.
Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and diagnosis made. In the meantime, avoid taking too much sugar, cut on refined flour, take low fat and high fiber diet to reduce
intestinal inflammation and hence lower mucus production. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
