Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Muscle Pain All Over The Body Of An Elderly Person Post A Flu Shot Normal?
I got my high dose flu shot on 10/26/18 and a few days I noticed that I am experiencing muscle ache all over my body which is not normal as I am very active at age 80. I am a little concerned because I am 80, that it might be something else. It's not really that bad, but different for me. Thanks
Flu shots may in some cases cause similar symptoms to flu infection and body aches is one of them. I think it is normal you are experiencing these and it should feel better within a week. You may take some ibuprofen and paracetamol to help with the pain, make sure you keep your self well hydrated and rest as needed. If the symptoms last for more than a week or are getting any worse, please see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
