Is Nose Bleed That Occurred After Taking Promethazine Due To The Medicine?
Hello, My girlfried was prescibed promethazine cough syrup earlier today and was told to take it before bedtime. She took it about 20 minutes ago and had a small nose bleed that lasted about 10 seconds. should we be alarmed? should i take her to the emergency room
Promethazine is not very much known to cause nose bleed. Nasal bleeding can be because of stuffiness, allergic rhinitis. If its large in amount then she should to taken to emergency. If small in amount, she can wait n consult during routine working hours. She can go for X-ray chest and X-ray PNS if repeated episodes occur. Nasal polyps need to be ruled out as well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
