Is Numbness On Tip Of Finger After Poking Finger With Needle From Patient With No Disease Concerning?
my daughter is a nursing student and accidently stuck her finger with the need from a patient. This patient was not diabetic. They checked her chart and she did not have any diseases reported. Now the tip of her finger is numb and this is a good 13 hrs after it happened. What could it be
A needle prick, sometimes damages the minute sensory nerve (which communicates sensations to the brain) of the finger tip, which causes numbness lasting for a few days, depending on the extent of nerve damage.
Since the nerve recovers itself, NO treatment is required.
