Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have prescribed obimet SR 1 gm for healthy ovulation. but i heard that this will be used to control blood sugar levels. i am feeling dizziness, gastric, nausea and cramps in legs and hands from the time i took this tablet. is this the correct medicine to be used to get conceived?please help me
The obimet sr is metformine sustained relese table used as oral hypoglycemic agent i.e. in case of diabetes. As such it does not have any direct effect on the ovulation. As I am exactly not knowing your other details exact comment can not be given on this. But as far as the symptoms you are narrating about the metformin never cause hypoglycemia i.e. low sugar so dizziness & leg cramps can not be correlated with the intake of the drug. Few people might experience gastric upset for few days.
The one of the reason behind starting the the metformine might be to check your weight as the being overweight might be the cause for the irregular ovulation or else if it may be started to check your blood sugar level which ,might be on higher sides and which are not good for fetus.
