Hallow Dear,
Physiological vaginal discharge by and large is dependant on the hormones. Oestrogen increases the vaginal discharge while
Progesterone makes it thicker. During
pregnancy, both the hormones increase in the body and hence, the amount of discharge will increase in amount. However, physiological vaginal discharge is always mucous and colourless.
Thick off-white or white coloured vaginal discharge is more suggestive of
vaginal infection. Off while discharge, particularly if it is foul smelling suggests bacterial infection with pus discharge. White flaky discharge suggests yeast of
fungal infection while greenish off white discharge with froth suggests Trichomonal infestation. The later two cause itching of
vulva.
Bacterial infection will need antibiotics treatment, yeast infection can be managed by antifungal pessaries while Trichomonal infestation is treated by
Metronidazole.
Please report to your Gynaecologist to diagnose differentially and get treated if needed.
Your menses are due within a day or two. So please do not become impatient. If you get menses, the possibility of pregnancy is ruled out. All other symptoms suggesting pregnancy are valid only if the menses are missed (very occasional exceptions excluded). Otherwise they have to be considered due to some other cause.
If you miss period, wait for about a week and then get urine examined for pregnancy test. It will solve your dilemma.
Wish you the best luck.
