Is On And Off Stomach Pain, Pale And Loose Stools, Blood In Stools Of A Child Serious?
hi. my 4 year old has been complaining on and off for a while now about having a stomach ache. his stools are very pale and loose and he says his bottom hurts inside. he has just had a poo and there was red blood on his stools. I had a look at his bottom but couldn't see any tears. He's never had constipation and has a very healthy diet. I'm starting to get concerned. should I take him to the GP?
Hi, thank you for asking healthcare Magic. With this presentation, I think it is a case of amoebic dysentery. Another possible diagnosis could be a bacterial infection called shigellosis especially if fever is involved. Some laboratory tests like a full blood count, stool examinations and culture are needed. I would suggest you take the child to the GP or pediatrician for proper evaluation and management.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish him good health
