Is Pain In Swallowing After Being Kicked On Throat While Being On Motrin Normal?
My husband is a sempei in kempo karate and was kicked in the throat this afternoon. He is speaking and breathing fine but is complaining of pain when he swallows. He is eating and drinking however. Heis taking Motrin for the pain. Anything we should watch for?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swallowing after being kicked on throat and difficulty in swelling . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like soft tissue injury , fractured larynx or inflammation due to blow . I would suggest you to not to eat or drink as it can go in food pipe , do not lay down , stay calm and try to speak less . Consult general surgeon without any delay . Doctor may order CT scan , X-ray an physical examination . Doctor may treat with a Tracheostomy to allow breathing or prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now apply ice pack gently .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
