Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Pain Radiating From The Head To The Toes, In A 91-year-old, A Side Effect Of Taking Meloxicam Or Fosamax?
My mother is 91 y/o. Good health has taken no medications except occasional pepcid and naprosyn for arthritis pain in knees. She started meloxicam June 21st for arthritis pain once a day. She was prescribed fosamax for osteoprosis thinning of the hips. Her first dose was last Monday July 23. Today she says she hurts from her head to her toes, and her feet hurt last night. She did not go to church today because of her pain. Would this pain be more likely a side effect from the meloxicam or from the fosamax (which she has only had one pill.)
The medicines which your mother is taking is unlikely to have side effects like pain from head to toe. Considering the age your mother might be suffering from neuropathy, you should consult a neurologist for her further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
