Is Peeling Of The Skin On Both Hands A Side Effect Of Taking Nystatin For Treating Tongue Infections?

I was prescribed Nystatin as a mouth wash to use 4 times a day to take care of some irritations on my tongue. After a week, scaling and peeling began to occur on both hands. I stopped the Nystatin, but the scaling and peeling have not subsided. What do you suggest? (I m scheduled for invasive back surgery on August 1 .) Thank you.

Hello,

Nystatin can cause skin irritation (with topical use). Scaling and peeling of the skin of hands are unlikely to be due to Nystatin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
