I left my plastic tumbler cup with a plastic straw on a small table. I was taking care of a 2 year old toddler. I went away from the table to put toys away. When I went back to get my plastic cup, my plastic straw was broken into little pieces at the top. I m afraid the child was chewing on it and broke the straw and ingested some of the small plastic pieces. What should I do?
To answer your question, first to know that how much time already spent. Second does child have any problem in breathing. This one is dangerous if this plastic piece went airway. Plastic particle in airway causes some dangerous complication including blockage of airways. If this particle in food pipe and small then go to stomach and subsequently pass through stool. Larger particle may struck at cricopharynx i.e opening of food pipe which one is narrowest part of food pipe. Then child have complain of difficulty in swallowing.
