Hallow Dear Mumma,

For pregnancy to happen, the egg and sperms have to be present in woman's genital tract simultaneously.

Egg is released 14 days prior to next period. It has life of only 24 hours while the sperms are active for 72 hours. Therefore a period of about one week is Fertile period.

Your daughter had intercourse 2 days before the expected period. This would carry practically no possibility of pregnancy; and she did have menses after this intercourse. So she is not pregnant due to this first intercourse.

Her next intercourse was 4 days after menstruation. So again the chances of egg being present are very remote. Moreover, she has taken mp pill after the sex. If this pill is consumed within 72 hours of the sex, she is protected against the pregnancy even after the sex during fertile period.

I feel you should not worry about the possibility of her pregnancy due to these sexual encounters.

However, mp pill can cause some bleeding after few days, which is expected. Moreover, the following menses may get delayed by few days to a week or so. So you need not be under tension for such delay. If she does not get menses even after a week of the expected date, you may get her pregnancy test done on overnight first urine examined.

And one more advice to you (or your daughter). Since now she has started her sexual life, the possibilities of further sexual experiences cannot be ruled out. You may seriously think of putting her on regular birth control pills.

I hope this helps you, Mumma.
