Is Pregnancy Possible Due To Unprotected Intercourse?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...hi I am 19 years old n have been on the depo about 4years...i diet realise tht my depo was due on the 23rd august and it's now the 10th sept! I normally spot at the end of the 3months for a week but tht hasn't happened at all this time. Me and my partner of 4 years do have unprotected sex... Could I be pregnant?
Since the expiration of Depo is already over and you have not taken the next shot, you are at a risk of pregnancy due to unprotected sex.
The best option for you is to confirm the pregnancy status by one of the following options:
1. Perform Beta hCG test on your blood 10 days after the last unprotected sexual intercourse. Values more than 25 mIU/ml are diagnostic of pregnancy while in non-pregnant state, the values remain under 5 mIU/ml.
2. Perform pregnancy test on the overnight first morning urine sample 21 days after the last unprotected sex; earlier the test may report false negative results.
If you are not pregnant, please induce the menstruation by some Oestrogen+Progesterone preparation (with your Gynaecologist's advice only). After you get the withdrawal bleeding, get your fresh Depo shot.
I hope this helps you.
