my period is 2wks late. I was sterilised 20 mths ago i have also done 2 pregnancy tests n both have been negative. i do have a history of eptopic pregnancy as i have had 2 in the past. Im a bit concerned as the pregnancy test wouldnt show up if my hgc levels r not high enough. Is this possible.
Since you had previous two ectopic pregnancies, no wonder, you are worried. However, in ectopic pregnancy, the urine pregnancy test is positive, though week positive. The HCG levels during ectopic pregnancy are lower than the normal pregnancy for that period of gestation, still, they are higher than the non-pregnant state. You may repeat the test after about a week or so to confirm.
The best option would be ultrasonography. Two weeks after the missed period, it should give you an indication of your pregnancy, normal or abnormal. In fact, by this time, the pregnancy test should have been positive in any type of pregnancy. Please report to your obstetrician, considering your previous history.
