Is Presence Of Pus Cell In Urine Serious?

Hi. I was suffering from mild abdominal pain and did a urine test. The doctors found pus cell and have given me amoxicillin. I gave birth 9 weeks ago and am breastfeeding at present. 1. Should I be worried about the pus cell? Is it something serious? 2. Is it ok to breastfeed whilst on amoxicillin or whilst suffering from pus cell? 3. What food/drink should I avoid? 4. What should I drink/Eat to help reduce this

Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

Pus cells in urine indicate UTI( urinary tract infection ). If I were your treating physician I would have also prescribed a course of antibiotics as you already are taking.....also I would advice usage of citrate soda syrup or sachets to alkalinize your urine.
As for your concern about amoxicillin..... it is considered safe for maternal use during breast feeding.
Regarding dietary modifications ....maintain a good hydration level, drink almost 2 liters of fluid everyday. Decrease the intake of coffee, alcohol or carbonated drinks along with proteins ( such as meat) as these tend to make the urine acidic and may cause irritation.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
