hello. i had a possible exposure to hiv 2 weeks ago. i had unprotected sex with someone i dont know with unknown hiv status it was my first exposure of this kind. 1 week later and i discover small purple cappilary like marks just under my chest on my belly, they are only few of them but are still present. 2 weeks later and i have developed a rash on my face like tiny bumbs but seem colorless, also along my forearm which do not itch. i have no other symptoms no swollen glands, sore throat fatigue etc just the rash today. it could be heat rash since i work in a very hot place the last week. i am waiting on a test in 3 weeks but can you tell me what your opinion is on it. and what is the likely hood if she was hiv positive that i caught it from 1 exposure and i did not ejaculate.
I understand your worry and concern regarding HIV exposure. HIV infection is not conclusively diagnosed based on clinical symptoms as it is not reliable. The best way to diagnose HIV is by testing blood sample for HIV antibodies or p24 antigen or HIV DNA or RNA. I suggest you get the test done to confirm your HIV status. Thanks.
Hi As you mentioned the rash might be due to heat also.
Symptoms of HIV Generally appear only after 6 months once the immune system becomes weak. Symptoms are repeated episodes of fever, diarrhea, weight loss, lymph nodes.
You can undergo an RT- PCR( reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction) test which will diagnose the disease in early stages to clear off your doubt.
In my opinion take the test and you will know the status Thank you
