Hi my father has experienced pneumothorax, has a chest tube but already taken out. his doctor said that he s got inactive tb and suggested that he will take quadtab (3 tablets 30 mins before breakfast). the bandage from the chest tube is still intact and yesterday he couldn t breathe and has fever. is quadtab good to take even if you don t have active TB especially he just had the pneumothorax?
Thanks for your problem on HCM. I can understand your situation. I don't advice to start anti TB treatment if your father is having inactive lesions. Pneumothorax is not an indication to give anti TB treatment in inactive lesions. I advice you to get done repeat chest x ray to rule out pneumothorax at present. Because recurrence in pneumothorax is common especially within 1month. And he is having fever with shortness of breath, these also suggest possibility of pneumothorax. So get done chest x ray immediately. If pneumothorax is present then this time get done pleurodesis (adhesion of pleura) to prevent recurrent pneumothorax. So consult pulmonologist first and discuss all these. Don't take anti TB treatment at present.
