Is Rectal Bleeding A Normal Side Effect Of Prednisone?
I started taking prednisone yesterday for sciatic nerve pain. I received one injection at drs office and have taken 3 10mg doses of oral prednisone. I’ve noticed today I have been spotting/light rectal bleeding. It is a pale pink color. Should I be concerned or is this a normal side effect? Thanks!
The steroid that you have taken for sciatica and the present history of bleeding per rectum could be different, in very rare case it can be due to gastritis but there should be some associated symptoms like abdomen pain nausea and vomiting, else the rectal bleeding could be due to fissure, hemorrhoid and these both can be due to constipation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
