Is Recurring Pain In Chest While Having Cardiomyopathy A Cause For Concern?

Husband has Cardiomyopathy. Yesterday he lifted and carried a few things to our basement. Three hours ago he said he felt a pin prick in the middle of his chest for several pricks. Went away. Came back an hour later and then a few minutes ago. Should we go to an ER or contact his cardiologist in the morning? He is not experiencing any pain now and when he did it was moderate.

Hi welcome to hcm
I understand your query and concern.
Yes definitely Recurrent chest pain along with Cardiomyopathy is a medical emergency as it may lead to ventricular dysfunction, sudden failure of heart and left untreated may lead to cardiac arrest.Get an ECG,2 D Echo, lipid profile,Troponin I,complete blood picture, chest x ray immediately to rule out ongoing MI and heart failure.I advise to get his blood pressure and heart rate, oxygen saturation monitored immediately. He may need drugs like Anti platelet drugs loading doses,Anti hypertensives, lipid lowering drugs,Ionotropes to enhance heart action. If symptoms like breathlessness ,dizziness occur diuretics and nebulisation will be helpful.Consult your cardiologist for followup and expert management.
Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.
