Is Red And Sore Scab In The Place Of Stitches In Knee Due To Fall Serious?

I fell running 4 weeks ago today. I had 10 stitches in my knee (nothing broke). The stitches were removed 2 weeks ago. Things were improving. Yesterday the largest part of the scab came off. This morning it is red and sore. Is this normal or should I have it looked at? Thank you. - Robert

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The soreness and redness is completely normal after the scab removal.
I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.
I also suggest using an antibiotic cream for local application to prevent an infection.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
