Is Red And Tearing Eyes With Swollen Eyelids Due To Being Hit On Eye With Resistance Band Concerning?

Hi my older brother got hit in the eye with a resistance band. His eyes are red but his eye lids are swollen. He couldn't open his eyes for about 30 min. And his eyes were tearing. He put eye drops and an ice pack and is laying down. Since the eye lid was hit does it mean it protected his eye.

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare magic
Eye lids protect the eye through an involuntary (reflex) mechanism but if the object is too fast, it can enter the eye before the eye lids blink. It is really difficult to say with certainty if the eye got injured or not. If he has access to an eye specialist, I would suggest that he goes for consultation. If it is not possible, then just wash the eye with pure water and observe for changes. If he has blurred vision, it would be necessary to see an eye specialist.

I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you.
I wish you good health
