hi...thanks for writing... i have understood your concerns,..
clozapine is
antipsychotic medication, which is serotonin dopamine antagonist...it usually used for the resistant cases of
schizophrenia...[resistant means not showing response to at least 2 antipsychotic drugs, given in adequate dosage for adequate time duration]
clozapine has many side effects, to prevent common and milder side effects it was given in low dose and gradually increased..
clozapine causes
anticholinergic side effects, so causes of blurring of vision, and precipitation or worsening of glaucoma, that is a disorder of eye..
if your daughter has glaucoma, then clozapine shud be given cautiously or avoided..
in my opinion, if she has high intra ocular pressure, then go for detailed evaluation and consultation by ophthalmologist..if she has glaucoma, then, whether to give clozapine to your daughter or not, it shud be a combine decision of
psychiatrist, ophthalmologist and you...
also, visit your treating psychiatrist and ask about the decision of giving clozapine is justified or not..what is the risk benefit ratio?
i hope this advice will be helpful to you..best luck..
